I'm often asked why I didn't choose a more convenient (i.e. smaller) instrument to carry around. I don't know why I was initially attracted to the string bass, but it seems to suit me and I've been playing it for over 30 years. I currently perform regularly in the Klezmer band Freylach Time! and irregularly in contra dance, bluegrass, folk, chanting, and other groups. Klezmer is Jewish Folk music from eastern Europe that came to the U.S. and grew up alongside Jazz in the early twentieth century. I am classically trained and have played classical, chamber, jazz, old-time, bluegrass, and other musical forms. Below is a calendar of upcoming performances and links to more music information. I now also perform in Improv (improvisational comedy/theatre) groups, and continue to take classes to improve my skills and grow as a person.

My new improv troupe, "Get Off My Lawn," performs at the Improv Percolator, an event at the Carrboro Artscenter. Tami Taylors and Danny Canoe are also performing. For information and tickets, visit http://artscenterlive.org/events/improv-percolator-7/
I have also been taking aerials classes, and hope to perform someday on the lyra (hoop). Here is a short video of a sequence I did in class:
